Description
This United States Geological Survey map of my current place of residence gives us an excellent picture of Syracuse just after WWII started. The Erie Canal has long since been filled in and paved over, surviving in name only as Erie Boulevard. Syracuse's moniker, Salt City, has not any substance since the mid-19th century once salt deposits were discovered all over the United States. Sic fugit gloriam mundi!
However, Syracuse is experiencing an economic and cultural revival. For example, Micron, a microchip manufacturer, will be building a new factory here. This will really boost the economy and the spirits of all the city.
