Description

I made this digital painting based on a marvelous photograph by the Bureau of Land Management. We are looking south along Yaquina Head’s cobble beach. I was especially struck by the brilliant colors of the sunset to the west and how the colors both darkened and were absorbed into the gathering dusk. In the direct center of the image, the waves also play the game as the last light glistens off of their crests as if reluctant to let the light go.
These rhythms seem eternal and express a certain spirituality. They point to something that has been present before the earth was created, and that will remain when the earth is no more. Yes, I mean God.
