Symbols dominate this piece. The full spread of colors is meant to symbolize the inclusive gospel, the good news for every human being. "Ichthus" is the Greek word for fish, It was used by the early Christians as an acrostic for the name and work of our Lord. it stands for Iesou (Jesus); CH for X, Christos; H for Huious, Son; TH for Theos, God; and S for Soter, Savior.
The symbol of the fish made me immediately think of my baptism, the act of God by which I was united with
Christ. In this water I swim with Jesus in the new life he created by his death and resurrection.
Both the water and the clam shell are symbols for Baptism. The fish in this digital art piece swim in and are sustained by the water, and so is every person Baptized into the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The water also recalls Paul's statement in Acts: In God we life, and move, and have our being."
Chuck's creative background is wide and varied. He was a professional violinist, a published author, a multilingual graphic designer, a community college teacher, a Lutheran (ELCA) pastor, and a book designer (interior and covers). As a result, his work could be broadly categorized as digital art. His graphic design influences his digital art; and his digital art has features of his design work. In other words, they overlap. Someone put it this way: "What you do is not traditional art, and it isn't strictly graphic design. It's somewhere in-between." Chuck says he couldn't have said it better.

Sergey, thank you. Your exclamation of approval is very encouraging. As an artist on display at FAA, you often wait a long time to receive any recognition of any kind. Thank you, again.
