Artist's Description

Spiraling out of control, this intergalactic ship moves away into the depths of space. A long veil of fuel curves with it, indicating a catastrophic failure of one of its fuel storage tanks. Not the first to experience this, I hope the ship's crew was either rescued or made their way to a safe haven.
With this image I wanted once more to emphasize the extreme distances and the extreme loneliness that goes with them. The ship is so small and the universe so vast. Traveling "where no one has gone before" will require a certain kind of personality. Not many of us would make the cut.

About Chuck Mountain

Chuck Mountain

Chuck's creative background is wide and varied. He was a professional violinist, a published author, a multilingual graphic designer, a community college teacher, a Lutheran (ELCA) pastor, and a book designer (interior and covers). As a result, his work could be broadly categorized as digital art. His graphic design influences his digital art; and his digital art has features of his design work. In other words, they overlap. Someone put it this way: "What you do is not traditional art, and it isn't strictly graphic design. It's somewhere in-between." Chuck says he couldn't have said it better.
