The early 20th century was one of experiment and challenging boundaries in the arts, especially in commercial art. Today we call commercial art "graphic design," but the goals were the same: To draw attention; pitch a product, service or cause; and to motivate to action. My work hear could be called "in the style of", whether WPA, Art Deco and even Bauhaus and De Stijl. inevitably, however, my own tastes and interests will modify them as needed.
